Does agent-created activity in Jira count as adoption?

THE SHORT ANSWER

Only when a human closes, reads, or reverses it, and Atlassian's Q1 FY27 letter never counts that pair. Mike Cannon-Brookes's November 5, 2026 letter reports users creating 50% more in Jira and 75% more in Confluence after adopting the Atlassian MCP Server, more than 15 million MCP calls a day (15x since March), MCP adopters growing ARR at about 2x the rate of non-adopters, and RPO up 44.4% to $4.7 billion, and says agents are increasing engagement rather than replacing the platform while customers continue to add seats. Every agent figure is a volume figure, which is what an agent produces for free on a paid human seat. On the other side of the ledger, 13 of my 39 scheduled agents produced output nothing read and 30 of 51 commits in my agent-maintained library have no attributable author. The number to ask for is closed per created, and the seat line on the day the agent is the reader too.

Not on its own. Creation is what an agent produces for free, and on a seat-priced platform the free writer makes the paid seat look busier whether or not a person ever opens what it wrote. Adoption is the closed-per-created ratio, and Atlassian's letter reports every volume figure and not that one.

The letter's figures in Atlassian's order, the Salesforce seat from the same week, and my 13 of 39 are in Atlassian's Agents Write 50% More in Jira. Count What the Humans Closed.. The audit itself is in 70% of LangChain's Agent Runs Are Scheduled. Count the Ones Somebody Read..
