Prompt 1: Competitor Monitoring Setup
Run this once to establish your monitoring baseline.
I need to monitor [COMPETITOR 1], [COMPETITOR 2], [COMPETITOR 3].
Here's what I know today:
- Our pricing: [your pricing model]
- Our core features: [list 3-5 features]
- Our target customer: [describe]
For each competitor, provide:
1. Current pricing (if public)
2. Top 5 features they're promoting
3. Who they're targeting (customer segment)
4. Positioning statement (how they describe themselves)
5. How they compare to us on each of our 3 core features
Output: Competitor comparison table.
Frequency: Run once, update quarterly Time: 20 minutes Save to: Notion or shared doc (you'll reference this weekly)
Prompt 2: Weekly Competitor Analysis
Run every Monday to catch what changed.
Here are my competitors:

This week I noticed:

Prompt 3: Feature Comparison Deep Dive
Run this when a competitor launches something notable.
I want to understand how [COMPETITOR FEATURE] compares to our [YOUR FEATURE].

Compare on:
1. User experience (ease of use)
2. Feature depth (what can you do with it)
3. Integration with their ecosystem
4. Pricing (if feature is paid vs free)
5. Target use case
Questions:
- Where do we win?
- Where do we lose?
- What would it take for us to catch up?
- Should we leapfrog their approach?
Frequency: As needed (when competitor launches something notable) Time: 15 minutes Output: Share in #product, add to product roadmap discussion
Prompt 4: Positioning Analysis
Run quarterly to keep your positioning sharp.
Here's how we position ourselves: [PASTE YOUR POSITIONING STATEMENT]
Here's what competitors say about themselves:

Recommend 2-3 words we should own that competitors don't claim.

Use this template to share findings with your team

- Competitor websites: Check pricing, features, blog quarterly
- G2/Capterra reviews: Monitor monthly for customer sentiment shifts
- LinkedIn: Follow competitors' CEOs and product teams
- Twitter/Product Hunt: Set alerts for competitor announcements
- Customer interviews: Ask what else they evaluated
- Sales team input: They hear what customers compare you to
- Investor updates: If they're VC-backed, they share quarterly updates
